Couple embracing on a mountain meadow

Wedding photography

I photograph weddings and elopements in South Tyrol and the Dolomites in a documentary, unobtrusive way, with an eye for mountain light.

I grew up in Val Gardena and know the places where you want to celebrate: the alpine meadows, the mountain huts, the chapels. I also know the weather, which can change three times in an hour up here. That experience comes with every wedding, even if you never see it in the pictures.

I take on only a limited number of weddings each year. That leaves time for your planning, for the day itself and for the careful work on every single image afterwards.

Approach

Observe rather than stage.

  • Floral pin being fastened to a red dress

    Documentary

Most pictures happen without you noticing: your mother’s face during the vows, the laughter at the toast, the wind on the ridge. I’m there, but never the centre of attention.

  • Bride laughing at the groom in the evening light

    In the best light

We take time for your couple portraits when the light is at its most beautiful, usually in the late afternoon or evening. We plan where to go beforehand, with an alternative for clouds, wind and rain.

  • Bride holding her bouquet against the light

    Personal editing

I select every image myself and edit each one individually, with a colour style refined over the years: natural, warm and timeless. No outsourcing, no short-lived filter trends.

  • Couple walking hand in hand through an archway

    Quietly in the background

I work with quiet equipment and without long instructions. Your guests should remember your day, not the photographer.

Places

Where I love to photograph.

This is home. I know when and where the light is at its best, where beautiful pictures happen even in the rain and which places are best visited early in the morning.

  • SecedaThe ridge above Ortisei with views of the Odle peaks. Reached by cable car, at its best early in the morning or late in the afternoon.2,519 m
  • Alpe di SiusiEurope’s largest high-alpine meadow: endless pastures, wooden huts and Sassolungo in the background.1,850 m
  • Gardena PassBetween the Sella group and the Cir peaks: rock, larches and wide views down the valley.2,121 m
  • Val di FunesThe quiet valley behind the Odle peaks, with farms, meadows and the church of Santa Maddalena.1,339 m
  • Huts & chaletsFor celebrating up high: mountain huts with wood-panelled parlours, terraces and views, even when it’s snowing outside.
  • Lago di BraiesFamous and crowded during the day. For quiet pictures, sunrise is best.1,494 m

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

How far in advance should we get in touch?

For Saturdays between June and September, ideally twelve to eighteen months ahead. Weekdays, spring, autumn and winter are often possible at shorter notice. Just ask about your date.

Do you also photograph outside Val Gardena?

Yes, throughout South Tyrol and the neighbouring regions of the Dolomites. Weddings elsewhere in Italy and Europe on request.

What if the weather doesn’t play along?

In the mountains, that’s part of it. For every location we plan an alternative together, such as a cosy parlour, a barn or a patch of forest. Fog, clouds and fresh snow often make for the most striking pictures.

Can we get married on an alpine meadow or a mountain?

In Italy, a legal ceremony is only possible at authorised places, usually the town hall or selected venues. A symbolic ceremony, on the other hand, is possible in many places in the mountains. I’ll help you choose and tell you where permission is needed.

How many pictures will we receive?

That depends on the length of the day: for a full day it is approx. 500 pictures. You won’t get sheer volume but a careful selection: every important moment, each image edited individually.

When will we receive the pictures?

After 3–4 weeks you receive your private online gallery. As soon as you approve it, the high-resolution download follows the same day. With express delivery you have the complete gallery after just 3 days.

Do you offer an album?

Yes. If you like, I design a fine album that tells your story in the right order, from the first picture of the day to the last.

Which languages do you speak?

English, German and Italian. On the wedding day I switch between languages without a second thought, which helps when your guests come from different countries.

How does booking work?

After we’ve met, you receive a written contract. Once the deposit is paid, your date is reserved.

Do you also photograph elopements and intimate weddings?

With pleasure. Here in the Dolomites, weddings for two or with just a few loved ones have a magic of their own. You’ll find everything on the elopement page.

Tell me about your day.

Your date, the place and a few lines about yourselves are enough. Within 24 hours you’ll receive a personal reply with a quote.
